Time Strategies

One thing I do every Sunday is sit down and write down everything that has a due date and when I need to do it by. Then I go in and fill in times that I need to work on or do other stuff like grocery shopping or working out. By writing everything down, it helps me manage my time and stay organized throughout the semester. I feel comfortable with my study habits thus far, and plan to continue them in this class as well. The only thing that sometimes stands in my way is procrastination. It is crazy how you can have so much to do sometimes that you barely have time for breathing, yet you still find yourself procrastinating. This is why I chose to read the article, How to Beat Procrastination, which was published in the Harvard Business Review. One of my other classes this semester is using articles from HBR and so far I think they are all really interesting. One thing this article talked about that really stood out to me was that our brains are naturally programmed to procrastinate. Being the organized person I am, this made me feel a little bit better about how often I can find myself getting distracted. It was helpful to hear that a good way to beat procrastination is by rewarding yourself with a treat. As usual the semester will get busy again and things will be so overwhelming that I'll inevitably find myself procrastinating, but it's important to remember to reward yourself whether it be physical or mental.

  1. Haha that meme is prime. And to begin, I think that you have really good habits and its admirable how consistent you are. Further, I also remember things better when I write them down, but procrastination is my biggest enemy. How often do you refer back to your schedule during the week? I usually keep a mental schedule, which is terrible! I need to adopt your methods. But after reading the article, I couldn't agree more with your take on it. I took away the same message, it is important to reward your hard work. This gives little incentives to keep on keeping on.

Introduction

Hey everyone, my name is Stephanie Krawczyk. I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma and I am beginning my senior and final year here at the University of Oklahoma studying Chemical Engineering. Although there are a lot of cool things about m major, I think the coolest thing about my major is that even though I have learned so much in my time here, there is so much out there to discover and continue learning! I love my family and I love that Tulsa isn't too far of a drive from them. And they can make the trip up to see me too. I have a younger brother, Adam, who just moved into his freshman year at the University of Arkansas, and I am so excited to see where his life takes him in the next couple of years. Also I have one dog who is the coolest dog in the whole world (even though all dogs are amazing). Her name is Kacy and she's 10 years old. I always make my parents send me pictures of her. Here is a picture I took of her: One of my other favorite things is food. I can't think of...

Week 11 Storytelling: The not so Wiley Coyote

Once there was a coyote, and all he wanted in life was a friend. He often caught himself watching all of the other animals, saddened, thinking to himself, "I wish I could fly like the bird" or "I wish I had such beauty as the ." But all of the other animals were warned about the coyotes kind. They were warned to stay away, because he was a dangerous creature. The coyote wanted to prove to the town that he was actually good, so he devised a plan that would surely show all the other animals that he was not bad. The coyote began to gather flowers and plants of such beauty, and he began to weave them into a banner that he planned to hang above the two main trees in the village. As he was setting up this banner, he noticed a roadrunner trot by and as he was admiring him, he forgot to attach the final piece of vine that would fully attach the banner. The other animals began to notice what the coyote was doing so they approached him. As the coyote was standing by, he...
