Here are my four possible topics for the project after looking through the list of project topic suggestions.
1) Fairy Tale
I haven't fully decided what I would do with this one yet, but I think there is a lot of ways you can go. There are many different kinds of cultural fairy tales and this would be interesting to research and come up with something. I wanted to do some kind of animal characters going on an adventure, so I think this would fall under this category.
2) Greek Heroes/Gods
I think this would be a fun story to write. It would incorporate the topic I have most previous knowledge about. I was thinking about maybe doing a cross between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. A group of students who attend a school for children of gods and mythological creatures go on various adventures. One thing that I would like this story to include would be following the Joseph Campbell's monomyth way of writing a story. This is basically: hero enters the unknown, has helpers, restores order. I would want it to have somewhat of a Harry Potter ending where the main character has to sacrifice himself, but ends up surviving. (Spoiler Alert)
3) Urban Legends
This would be a really cool because it could be a thriller type of story. Urban legends interest me because it is just so weird that they are around for such a long time and, although people find clues or things they think to be clues, no one ever finds any hard evidence. There are so many different kinds of urban legends and so it would be fun to go in either of the two following directions. Either, one make up my own urban legend, or two, have some characters undergo an encounter with an urban legend monster that already exists.
4) Ghost Stories of India
This story topic caught my attention because I love scary movies and so I thought it might be fun to research some of these Indian ghost stories and either base my story off of one of them, or completely make up my own ghost story. Horror is a cool type of story because just as a love story or a sad story can make you feel typical emotions, if you read something really scary it can actually make you scared.
